The camp director
Dr. Gregory McDonald Has developed the following Philosophy for
CampCatsAway:
CampCatsAway
is a place where cats learn to live and play together in a supportive
and non-competitive atmosphere. Our camp program includes small
group, large group, and individually chosen activities. We have
thoughtfully selected program activities that will provide opportunities
for each camper to be challenged and succeed, to explore and develop
their creativity, and to just plain have fun. Our program is perfect
for felines of both sexes between the ages of 2 months and 20
years, while a Counselors in Training Program has been designed
for campers ages 15-17.

Campers
are placed in cabin groups by age and gender. We do our best
to accommodate cabin mate requests. Each group of five campers
has their own counselor to guide them through all aspects
of camp life. All aspects of our program have been observed
and met the standards necessary to achieve the American Cat
Association's Camp Accreditation,(There is actually no such
association but it sounds official doesn’t it?) the
standard of the industry in the summer camp world. |
CampCatsAway
also strives to maintain a one to five counselor to camper ratio
in all living group situations. This provides the security and
guidance in a social arena that can often prove more intimidating
for campers than it really needs to be. Our counselor to camper
ratio varies from activity to activity, but is based on supervision
necessary for safety, individual counselor qualifications, characteristics
of participants, and the objectives of the given activity area.
