Scratching
post beginning intermediate and advanced. All campers
are encouraged to use some of their excess energy in sharpening
their claws. This also allows the camper to leave his or her scent
on the post and gives the camper the feeling of belonging.

Cat
Television This is one of the more popular activities
of the camp. We do have a safety chip on all of the televisions
to prevent the campers from watching any violent or dog
related shows. The Campers are encouraged to select videos
that are entertaining but also educational.
Cat
Nip Hour Although this is a controversial topic
we feel that while away from home some recreational drugs
are suitable for some of our campers. We limit this to a
reasonable time and only use legal forms of Catnip. |
Tree
house Hide and Seek This activity is limited to our older
campers that are more coordinated and less likely to have an accident.
The sizes of the tree houses are selected on the basis of experience
and agility of the camper.
Ruff
and Tumble Time. This activity is on a volunteer basis
only and is usually selected by the younger campers and often
after a little too much time in the Catnip hour. A special release
form signed by a guardian is required for this activity.
Fish
Watching. A select group of our campers are always near
the fish tank. This tank is secured for both the safeties of the
fish and the campers. Cats that have any allergies to any fish
product are strictly confined away from this activity.
Ball
Sports and Games. A plethora of toys and balls are provided
for the camper’s enjoyment. The campers are allowed to have
free access to all toys at CampCatsAway as long as they demonstrate
the ability to share. While CampCatsAway doesn't focus its program
around traditional sports and games, they are a part of our program.
We've found by involving campers in too many of the same activities
that certain individuals already excel in during their everyday
lives, we hamper the social and learning climate we are trying
to create.

Cat
and Mouse. Toy mice are provided to hone the skills
of those cats that are away from their normal work environments.
The mousing skills are encouraged at CampCatsAway as they
occupy the mind and encourage aerobic exercise.
Beach
Time. There is plenty of time at CampCatsAway for
a nap at the beach. Campers with white ears and noses are
required to wear sunscreen while in this activity. It is
greatly discouraged by the counselors for the campers to
use the beach as a litter box.
